Ellen Marie Scallion of New Fairfield, CT, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2017, at Glen Hill Rehabilitation Center. Ellen was born in Manhattan, NY in 1931 and is the daughter of the late Marie & John Murphy and sister of the late Jack Murphy of Delaware. She graduated from St. Johns University and worked for 17 years for Schaefer Brewery Co.

After living in Queens until 1971, Ellen moved to Candlewood Isle to live full time. In her younger years as a stay at home mom, Ellen was an active community volunteer especially for Voice for Joanie and Candlewood Isle. Her kindness, love of family and humor will be missed by all. Ellen is survived by her husband of 61 years, Richard Scallion, son Mark, grandson George, daughter in-law Susanna, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A service will be held on Saturday October 14, 2017 at noon at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church at 21 Brush Hill Rd. in New Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian PO Box 23473 Washington, DC 20026-3473 or Voice for Joanie at http://voiceforjoanie.org. A private family burial service will be held at a later date
