Dorothy (Allen) Gustafson, age 101, of Bridgewater, CT, wife of the late Harold Gustafson, died Friday, March 17, 2017.

Dorothy was born June 6, 1915, the daughter of the late Grover and Evadnia (Dickinson) Allen. She graduated from New Milford High School and Bryant University in Providence, RI, where she trained to become a Secretary. Following her retirement, Dorothy was very active volunteering for many local organizations. Giving back to the town of Bridgewater was something Dorothy learned at an early age and continued throughout her life. For many years, Dorothy was secretary/treasurer of the Bridgewater Grange, and the Center Cemetery Association. She also volunteered with the Red Cross to deliver blood and assist in local blood drives. She served as the town’s Historian as well. Dorothy once said, “My years volunteering in civic activities were always very enjoyable, with hours gladly given”.

She leaves behind one sister: Catherine (Carroll) Michener of Woodbury, CT and multiple nieces and nephews.

Per Dorothy’s wishes, a memorial service will be planned at a later date.
