Doris M. (Mowat) Stoppel

Doris (Mowat) Stoppel, age 95, of Danbury died on Wednesday, April 4, 2018. She was the widow of Doyle E. Stoppel.

She was born in Brooklyn, NY, September 20, 1922, daughter of the late James and Vera (Mitchell) Mowat. She graduated from Columbia University with a degree in Education and went on to teach Physical Education for a while. When she and her husband moved to Danbury, she was co-owner of Dorrene’s Bridal Shop in Danbury, until her retirement to care for her family.

She is survived by her daughter: Carol Stoppel of Danbury; son: Robert J. Stoppel and his wife Kathleen of Trumbull, CT.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to the Regional Hospice & Palliative Care, 30 Milestone Rd., Danbury, CT 06810.

The funeral will be held at the Hull Funeral Home, 60 Division St., Danbury, Monday at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home preceding the service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
