Charles Nunziato Cundari, age 84, of Bethel, CT passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at New Milford Hospital. He was the husband of Priscilla J. (Knapp) Cundari.
He was born in Woodbridge, NJ July 20, 1932, son of the late Rocco A. and Teresa (Violi) Cundari. The family settled in Norwalk CT, where much of the extended family still resides.
Charlie graduated from Norwalk High School in June of 1952 and entered the printing industry as his vocation, where he remained a lifelong union member. He met his wife Priscilla while in high School and they married 12/31/1953. During the 50’s and 60’s he, his brothers, and close friends enjoyed several fast pitch softball city championships. The Cundari brothers were also known as the “The Brothers Five” in the Norwalk bowling community. Charlie was recognized by the Norwalk Old Timers association for athletic accomplishments. A devout Catholic, and family man, he moved his family into a new home in Bethel in 1968, where he and Priscilla raised their 3 children. They remained in Bethel during their retirement years. Charlie possessed a great sense of humor and loved sports, music, and art.
In addition to his wife of 63 years, he is survived by his son: Charles Cundari of New Milford, CT, daughter: Shelby Gould of Bethel CT, brothers: Dominic and James Cundari; sisters: Theresa Burnham and Virginia Cundari Falcone. Grandchildren, Nicole, Alexandra, Margaret, Angela, Isabella and Jessica, and great-grandchildren Vincent, Gianna, and Marcello.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved daughter Teresa, and siblings Frances, Ann, Rocco Jr., Mary, Margare and Louis.
The family will receive family and friends at Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave, Bethel, CT Sunday, March 26 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 24 Dodgingtown Road, Bethel, CT on Monday, March 27 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Bethel.
