Arlene Lohle, aged 79, died Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Hancock Hall, Danbury, of complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Born in Brooklyn, NY on February 16, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Denninger) Finnerty.
Arlene married her beloved husband John Lohle in 1957 and they lived in Rockville Centre, New York before moving to Park Ridge, New Jersey where they spent the remainder of their married life.
For years Arlene held the role of office manager for Jones Dairy Farm’s New Jersey sales office. After leaving Jones Dairy Farm she held several other roles, notable among them as an executive secretary at Bergen Community College.
Arlene loved to sing and was a song leader at the Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic church in Park Ridge, New Jersey for years. She also loved to paint and draw. An avid world traveler, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina also held a special place in her heart.
An engaging conversationalist with a ready smile and an impeccable image, Arlene enjoyed entertaining and deeply loved her family and friends.
After the passing of her husband John, Arlene moved to Shelton, CT in 2002. She joined the Gaelic Club of Fairfield and was active in several senior centers, the Red Hats Society and other organizations. In 2015 health challenges precipitated her move to Maplewood at Stony Hill, Bethel and then a subsequent move to Hancock Hall, Danbury.
Arlene is survived by her son, Michael Lohle, of Bethel, his wife Susan and her grandchildren Sean and Brooke. She is also survived by her siblings Raymond Finnerty of Garden City, NY and Joan Morrione of Woodcliff Lake, NJ. Her husband John predeceased her in 1999.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
At the family's request the funeral service was held in private.
