Alfred H. Benedict "Papa" of Bethel passed away on September 28, 2016 at his home. He was born August 23, 1917 in Danbury. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Laura and daughter, Phyllis.

Al was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church in Danbury and his ancestors were among the founding fathers of the town of Danbury. Al was proud of his service as a Pharmacist's mate in the Navy during WW II. 

After Al's retirement he and Laura enjoyed wintering in Florida and spending time with their family.

Al is survived by his daughters, Lynne Benedict of CA, Karen Robinson and husband Wes of FL, Laurie Lincoln of Naugatuck and Dawn Sadler and husband Roby of New Milford. He was also proud Papa to 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. 

There will be a memorial service Saturday October 8th at 11 am at the First Congregational Church, 164 Deer Hill Ave, Danbury. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Congregational Church.
