Ada Ferry Cole passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 11, 2018. Born in the Danbury Hospital on October 11, 1927 to Almira Dusenberry Ferry and Dwight Ferry she was predeceased by them, her husband, Fred Cole and her only sister, May Ferry Kuratek.

Ada graduated from Bethel High School in 1945, and in her youth was a Majorette for the Grassy Plain Drum Corp. She married Fred Cole on January 15, 1949 in the Bethel Methodist Church and they then resided in Bethel. She served as Secretary of the Church in Bethel for a number of years. Ada and Fred moved with their three children to West Redding in 1962 to be closer to their business, the West Redding Store Inc. Ada became active in the West Redding Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary and also volunteered each year for the United Cerebral Palsy Telethon. She was active with the American Cancer Society and awarded accolades for her contributions. Another great pleasure for Ada was her work in Redding with the Children and Family’s Service’s Nearly New Shop, for many years she was Chairman while working at the small shop with her friends. Ada was one of the original Board members of the Bethel High School Alumni Association where she served as Correspondence Secretary.

She leaves behind three children, Douglas Cole, Deborah Cole (Wilmot) and Donna Cole Pipkin, and an “adopted” son, Scott McGuckin; five grandchildren: Tracy Gallagher, Emmett Cole, Courtney Goodrow, Christel Reardon, Savanah Pipkin  and a plethora of great grandchildren, all of whom she loved very much.

Burial at Umpawaug Cemetery in Redding will take place on April 7th, 2018 at 11:00, with a Celebration of Her Life to follow at the Bethel United Methodist Church on 141 Greenwood Ave., in Bethel.
