Gerald Haas
Gerald Haas, age 95, of Bethel, CT, died Friday, August 17, 2012 at his home. He was the husband of the late Evelyn (Anderson) Haas.
Gerald was born in South Norwalk, CT on August 7, 1917 to the late Lewis William and Florence (Bennett) Haas. Gerald is survived by his daughter: Marilyn Bullock-McIlrath and her husband William of Bethel; a granddaughter: Lindsay Bullock of Bethel; a niece: Betsy Bergeron of Waterford, CT and nephews: Jim Haas of NM, Bill Haas of NH, Bob Haas of Southbury, Charlie Haas of Bridgeport, and Bruce Haas of Shelton. He was predeceased by brothers: Lewis, Ken, Charlie and Bob.
After serving in France and England with the 647th Bomb Squadron, Gerald was honorably discharged from the Army Air Corp in 1945. He began his plumbing/heating business in 1952 and was a resident of Bethel for 60 years. He was a past member of the Masons, the Permanent Building Committee and served as a Justice of the Peace for the Town of Bethel. He enjoyed traveling, camping, loved animals and will be remembered for his kindness to others.
A graveside service will be held at Wooster Cemetery, Danbury, Section 19, Friday, September 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM. There are no calling hours.
